[00:00:06] She was coming at us, and where her face should have been, she was dressed in a shroud, like clothes from that earlier time period, and when she looked at us, there was no face. Welcome to Tell Me A Ghost Story, the late night call-in podcast where we delve into the world of the supernatural and explore the eerie and unexplained.

[00:00:35] I'm your host, Michelle Newman. This podcast features true stories from our callers that will send shivers down your spine and leave you questioning the existence of the afterlife. So grab a cozy blanket, turn down the lights.

[00:00:55] Hi, my name's Kelly, and I'm from Australia. My story is about a message from the other side, rougher than your usual scary story. So my grandad was my absolute idol. I loved him to bits. We did so much together. I have so many beautiful, beautiful memories of him. Sadly, he passed away 13 years ago from a sudden illness, and yeah, devastating.

[00:01:29] So when my nana got to the stage of her grief, where she felt she was ready to move on, start fresh, she felt it was important to go through all these things, hand them out, and it was just a way of her being able to cope with him not being there anymore. When I found out that she'd handed everything out, I asked my mum if she received any jewellery of my grandad's.

[00:01:55] Specifically, there was this silver St. Christopher necklace that I always remember playing with when I used to sit on his knee, just flipping it, flipping it, flipping it. I was just obsessed with this necklace, always playing with it. And I asked my mum, do you have this necklace? My mum had no idea what I was talking about, so she was like, no, I don't have this necklace. I've just got their wedding rings. That's it. So I was like, okay. So that was a while, like years ago that I was asking about this necklace.

[00:02:25] So I've only just recently gotten back from the UK visiting my mum for Christmas. And while I was there, I just had this need again to ask her. I was like, mum, are you sure you don't have this necklace? Like I'd be devastated to find out that it was accidentally lost, thrown out. Like I just wanted to know that it was still in the family. So again, mum was like, I really have no idea what necklace you're on about.

[00:02:55] So the next day I go to leave the house and on the wall in the hallway, there's a photo of my granddad and he's wearing the necklace. So I call for my mum, like, mum, like this, this necklace, this is the necklace that I'm looking for. And she was like, oh my goodness, I've never even noticed him wearing that necklace in that photo. That's crazy. I was like, well, yeah, like, do you know where it's gone? Like, has anybody got it? She was like, I really don't know. She was like, ask your uncle Gaffin, which is her brother. See if he's got it, because he's took a few things.

[00:03:25] So he comes round, I ask him, Gavin, do you know where this necklace has gone? He has no idea what I'm on about either. Sorry, I don't know, I don't have it. So I'm devastated, but I didn't want to ask my nana because I didn't want to make her upset that this necklace has like vanished when it was something my granddad used to wear all the time. And like I said, I was visiting England for Christmas.

[00:03:50] So again, a few days later, Christmas morning, we go round to my nana's house to give her a present. We're all sat round opening presents and my nana gives me a piece of jewellery. And when I open the box, there's a letter and it says, Kelly, your granddad would be so proud to see you wearing his St. Christopher necklace. And there it is, the necklace. And I just start shaking, crying. Like I just, I couldn't believe it. Like I've just been talking about it.

[00:04:19] I've been questioning where this necklace has gone for the last 13 years. And now it's staring at me in the face. So I'm like, mind blowing. So I sit back down next to my mom while everyone else is opening presents. And I whisper to my mom, did you tell nana that I wanted this necklace? And she goes, I promise you I didn't say anything. So then my mom says, mom, how did you know that Kelly wanted this necklace? And my nana goes, I didn't know that Kelly wanted this necklace.

[00:04:49] I just had a dream and someone came into my dream and woke me up, basically telling her that she had to give me this necklace. So that's what she did. Basically, the St. Christopher itself, she kept it in her purse. It was the last thing that she kept off my granddad's and she used to carry it around with her all the time. And yeah, someone just came to her, told her that she was supposed to give it to me.

[00:05:18] And that's what she did. And it's just the best thing ever. Like, it's more meaningful. And I'm just so overwhelmed and happy that I've got a piece of my granddad with me forever. But yeah, that's my story. Thank you for your story, Kelly. Not all the ghost stories on this show have to be scary. They can be sweet, too.

[00:05:45] I have a ghost story for you today. It's about our trip out to California. California, the same year that we met the ghost of Marilyn Monroe walking along the beach. Well, this involved the Hollywood sign. Beautiful young actress, Peyton Twistle, committed suicide, unfortunately. She felt like she was a failure, but we didn't see that at all.

[00:06:13] And we wish that she wouldn't give herself another chance. But she jumped off the Hollywood sign, the letter H, committing suicide because she thought her life was over and she thought she'd never give any more boobie parts or anything like that. But little did she know that on the night she committed suicide, there was another part waiting for her in the mail box.

[00:07:10] This brings me to my story. She was coming at us. And where her face should have been, she was dressed in a shroud, my clothes from that earlier time period. And when she looked at us, there was no face. We got the heck out of there and never came back to that area again. Thank you for listening to my stories. But anyway, I would never want to see what I saw that day ever again. Thank you.

[00:07:44] Thank you, Cindy, for your story. The case of Peg Entwistle is fascinating. She's been seen by joggers, hikers, park rangers ever since her death in the 1930s. Gardenia perfume was a favorite of hers and witnesses often say they get the whiff of gardenias in the air.

[00:08:11] Apparently on foggy nights, if you're walking around the Hollywood sign, be on the lookout for Peg Entwistle. She never became a Hollywood star, but she became Hollywood lore.

[00:08:42] Hey, Michelle, this is Lane Pavoghi calling in from California. I wanted to tell you a ghost story. I have spent my entire career making YouTube videos originally at this place called Maker Studios, where I met someone named Kasim G. Kasim G is a longtime host and he does man on the street style interviews.

[00:09:10] But we started doing these specials where we did the first one on Sasquatch. When we went out looking for Sasquatch, it was a good time. We spent 10 days in the normal forest, you know, freezing our butts off. Sasquatch was, you know, a success, but Kasim really wanted to do a show on ghosts. He wanted to do California on ghosts. So we packed up our bags and we went out ghost hunting.

[00:09:42] And now me, my history with ghosts is I've had experiences in the past, strange paranormal experiences that have made me somewhat of a believer. I just don't know if it's a ghost or it's some other dimension or maybe the mind is just playing tricks on me. But I do think there are things we can't explain in this world. So that's kind of where my mindset is going into this. I'm not not a believer.

[00:10:08] I'm I'm I guess you could say I'm a skeptic, but I do know there's something out there. So we start this trip. We're driving the Sprinter to all these different locations. This particular story, this happened outside of Stockton, California. We went to Stockton because right outside of Stockton, there's a small town called Volcano and it has a very haunted hotel.

[00:10:37] This was all all these places and stuff. We're being guided by a psychic medium named Maria Laguna Salas. She's based in Stockton and she has a past of working with the FBI to aid them in possibly discovering something about a cold case or something like that. So we were super excited to meet her. We meet her.

[00:11:04] She's extremely an extremely vibrant person. She is so full of character. She's one of those people when she goes into the room, she just she captures you with her presence. She stares you directly in your eyes and talks to you like when she's talking to you. You feel like she's only talking to you like the rest of the room almost disappears.

[00:11:30] She's really a captivating person, but she's a very interesting person. And she she did say some some little things, you know, we're driving around with her sometimes for hours. Just these little remarks that sometimes you're like, wait, what did you just say? You know, whether it's, you know, commenting on someone's presence like, oh, you kind of have a dark energy right now or something like that.

[00:11:53] And we're all kind of taken back by it, you know, because this is our first experience with a legit psychic medium on this show. And the show, you know, it is it is somewhat of a comedy show. So it was all pretty light up until this moment. Now, with Maria Laguna Salas in Volcano, California, we go out. We're at this haunted hotel.

[00:12:16] We we're we're using our meters, the scanners, the voice boxes, you know, and we're doing everything right. In the middle of this ghost hunt, Maria Olsen gets very quiet, extremely quiet. And her hands start shaking. And you can see this all on on the video on California on Ghost Castle. Look it up. It's amazing.

[00:12:44] We witnessed Maria get possessed by a ghost. Definitely one of the most remarkable things I've ever captured on camera. I was the cameraman on the show, a cameraman, me and my my friend John Na. And we're filming this moment. As soon as Maria starts transforming into this, this goat, this this being she's like possessed by this,

[00:13:13] this ghost that we've been talking to previously in the night. Me and John are looking at each other like, dude, are you seeing this? This is absolutely insane. She was possessed by this spirit for a good 45 minutes. It was it's it's remarkable. Must see TV. Look it up. California on Ghost. Now, this isn't where my story ends. This is the this is the light part of the story.

[00:13:44] So after Maria's possessed, she was she actually ended up purging like like afterwards. Like she ended up vomiting after the possession, which I thought was very interesting. And we ended up going to Denny's after where we all, you know, at 4 a.m. Lumberjack slams. Maria joined. It was it was great. And it was a nice little reset after such an event. The crazy thing is Maria, you know, like I said, very captivating person stares you in

[00:14:13] the eyes would make these remarks would wouldn't say much. But when she said something to you, it was like it was almost like she was on seduces the wrong word. Um, it's like she's trying to possess you or something like she is really like captivating. You know, she just captures you with her eyes. And it was a little off putting, you know, it made you feel something that you're not used to when you're talking to someone.

[00:14:40] So we say our goodbyes to Maria. We have a four hour drive ahead of us. And, you know, we're sitting, we're all just doing our own thing. Just and I get a phone call from a random number. Like, what is this? So I let it go to voicemail. Uh, I listened to the voicemail and, um, it is Robert who Robert is an old roommate of mine.

[00:15:06] My, I grew up with my father, single father in Los Angeles in, uh, Mar Vista, which is around LA. And he had a house that he lived in with his roommates. My dad's having me very young. He lived with his college roommates. And so it was me, my dad and three other roommates. Um, one of them was Robert. I looked up to Robert. He was going to school at the time to become an architect. And he introduced me to horror movies actually.

[00:15:34] And I'm a huge fan of horror. That's why I got into film in the first place. Huge fan of evil dead of anything horror. I'm a big fan. Anyways, love Robert, but I have not spoken to this man for 15 years. I don't know where he is. I thought I heard he was in Mexico, uh, doing something. Anyways, I haven't talked to this person in so long. And I grew up seeing this person as a father figure. This is someone that was so important to my, in my young life.

[00:16:04] I lived with this, this guy for five years and he taught me a lot. He basically taught me how to read. So I looked up to this, this guy. And so he leaves a voicemail and he says, Hey, Lane, I have something very important to talk to you about. Please call me back. Here's my number. I call the number. I'm like, Robert, what's up, man? He's like, Lane, oh my gosh, so long. You know, I'm, I'm getting emotional.

[00:16:32] I'm like almost crying because I'm spoken to this important person. Hearing his voice, it just triggered something in me. How much this person meant to me growing up. And, and Robert, you know, how are you? Like we get, we get all the chit chat done. He says, well, I had to call you. I called your father because I had to get your number. I, I had to connect with you.

[00:16:57] I had the most vivid dream last night of a dark haired woman that was trying to, for lack of a better words, capture you or, you know, maybe not hurt you, but like grapple onto you. And I felt the need to protect you. I felt like I, I couldn't, I couldn't protect you.

[00:17:25] I felt far away in my dream, but I saw you and I felt that maybe you were in danger. Maybe I, I couldn't tell what was happening, but I felt the need to protect you in this dream. And it was so vivid. It was so real. I woke up in a sweat and I called your dad right away.

[00:17:45] Like I said, Robert, this is insane because I just spent the past two days and just had this crazy night with this dark haired woman named Maria Laguna Salas. And, uh, he's like, no way. And I showed him, I texted him a picture of her. And he's like, no way.

[00:18:13] Like in my dream, I couldn't really tell. I was just a dark haired woman, but, uh, that is so insane. Very similar, uh, traits. And so ever since then, I mean, there's no way in my mind after not speaking to this human for 15 years that it was just kismet or just, um, uh, happenstance. There is something there.

[00:18:43] There was something with that presence and that coincided with my relationship with Rob, like in Robert of all people, um, to, to see that and to, to feel that. And then to call me within, within three hours of leaving this woman. It was a very powerful moment for me.

[00:19:05] It was very, very moving, very, you know, like there's, there's so much we don't understand about this world and how things are connected. That's my story. I, I hope you enjoyed it. I, I watch California on ghost. It's an amazing video.

[00:19:32] Um, it's, it's, it's must see if you're into ghosts, you must see. This video, California on ghosts. Uh, I'm Lane Povogi and I appreciate you having me on your show. Thank you, Lane, for your story. Find California on ghosts on YouTube. I've watched it. I highly recommend it. And it's as crazy as Lane described in his story. So check it out.
