True Ghost Stories: Gabby's Haunted House in Texas and Everything That Refuses to Leave
Updated Description
This is one of the original Tell Me A Ghost Story calls from the early days of the show. Short, raw, and exactly where it all started. This call was later incorporated into a longer compilation episode with full host commentary if you want the complete experience.
Hey it's Michelle, and this early episode belongs entirely to Gabby from Texas, who called in with a true ghost story about the haunted house she is living in right now. Not a house she visited. Not a place she stayed once. The house she goes home to. The house she has to figure out how to exist inside of while something in it makes clear on a regular basis that she is not the only one there.
There is a specific kind of haunting that is different from a one time encounter or a location visit that goes wrong. It is the kind that is woven into the fabric of daily life, where the paranormal is not an event that happens and then ends but a condition that has to be navigated alongside everything else. Getting up in the morning. Making coffee. Going to sleep at night. Gabby is doing all of those things in a house that has activity she cannot explain and cannot avoid because it is her home.
Texas has a deep and wide paranormal geography shaped by centuries of Indigenous history, Spanish colonial settlement, the violence of the Texas Revolution and the Civil War, and the particular intensity of the land itself across its various regions. Haunted houses in Texas tend to carry layered histories that go back further than their current owners know and Gabby's house is no exception. What is happening in her home connects to something that was there before she arrived and that has shown no particular interest in acknowledging that the house changed hands.
Gabby called in because she needed to tell someone who would believe her. That is why this show exists. One caller. One true ghost story about a woman in Texas who is dealing with one very haunted house. This is where Tell Me A Ghost Story began.

[00:00:02] Welcome to Tell Me A Ghost Story, the late night call in podcast where we delve into
[00:00:18] the world of the supernatural and explore the eerie and unexplained.
[00:00:23] I'm your host, Michelle Newman.
[00:00:27] This podcast features true stories from our callers that will send shivers down your
[00:00:32] spine and leave you questioning the existence of the afterlife.
[00:00:39] So grab a cozy blanket, turn down the lights.
[00:00:46] My name is Gabby.
[00:00:47] This story happened in San Antonio, Texas.
[00:00:51] It's about, I want to say about 2016, 2017.
[00:00:55] I clearly remember.
[00:00:56] So I'm an early bird.
[00:00:57] I used to get up pretty early.
[00:01:00] This particular morning, I was drinking my morning cup of coffee.
[00:01:06] I'm sitting down drinking my coffee.
[00:01:10] All of a sudden, I literally hear footsteps in the hallway.
[00:01:18] So I got up to go see if there was any of my kids when this happened.
[00:01:23] Nope, none of my kids.
[00:01:25] Shrug it off.
[00:01:26] Whatever.
[00:01:28] Then another time when I was washing dishes, from the corner of my eye, I literally see
[00:01:37] a shadow go from the living room to the hallway.
[00:01:45] I went to go see?
[00:01:47] Nothing, nothing at all.
[00:01:50] Another time that I heard something weird, my kids were in the living room.
[00:01:57] I was in the kitchen making breakfast for myself and my kids.
[00:02:01] And my husband, he was at work.
[00:02:03] All of a sudden, I heard one of my kids say something about a woman.
[00:02:09] I'm like, what woman?
[00:02:11] And I clearly heard, clearly heard literally somebody say hello.
[00:02:17] I heard, literally heard a woman's voice.
[00:02:21] I asked my brother-in-law if he had his girlfriend over.
[00:02:25] He said no.
[00:02:27] So that was very weird, very, that was kind of odd.
[00:02:33] Another time we saw me and my husband, we were in the kitchen, and I thought we heard
[00:02:41] my son crying or our son crying.
[00:02:47] And when we went to go check, he was asleep.
[00:02:50] Very, very weird.
[00:02:53] A lot of weird things happened in this home.
[00:02:57] Thank you, Gabby, for your story.
[00:03:01] That's all we have this week, folks.
[00:03:04] Do you have a ghost story?
[00:03:06] Call 701-484-2666.
