This is one of the original Tell Me A Ghost Story calls from the early days of the show. Short, raw, and exactly where it all started. All three of these calls were later incorporated into longer compilation episodes with full host commentary if you want the complete experience.
Hey, it's Michelle, and this early episode has three true ghost stories from three completely different corners of the paranormal world. A ghost who did not know she was dead and had a message she needed the living to hear. Two ghost hunters who used a black mirror and brought something home without realizing it. A four-year-old girl in Queensland, Australia, who looked up and found a Tall Man standing in her doorway, and has been thinking about him ever since.
Cindy Ketron from Avon, Indiana, calls in with a true ghost story from a trip to Hollywood with her grandparents after graduating high school in 1977. Walking along the Pacific Ocean one evening, they were approached by a woman in a long white evening gown carrying white leather sandals who seemed lost and confused. Cindy and her grandmother were both psychic, and they recognized her immediately. It was Marilyn Monroe. She did not know who she was or where she was. When Cindy told her, she regained her composure and delivered her message. She did not commit suicide. Somebody else did it for her. Then she walked back down the beach with a man whose face they could not see and disappeared into the sunset, leaving a trail of footprints in the sand. Michelle's research confirmed that Marilyn Monroe's spirit has been reported across Los Angeles for decades, in her home, on the Santa Monica Pier, and in the ladies' rooms of hotels across Hollywood.
Adam from Decatur, Illinois, is a twenty-year paranormal investigator who always dismissed the question of whether something might follow him home from a haunted location until the summer of 2016. He and his friend Jake visited a house with a history of murder, suicide, a major fire, and construction on top of a Native American burial ground. They used a black mirror for scrying, experienced nothing unusual, and drove home in opposite directions, arriving back at roughly 1 AM. Adam got out of his car and was hit with an overwhelming feeling of absolute silence and the specific sensation of someone standing directly behind him. He turned around. Nobody was there. His phone rang immediately. It was Jake calling from his driveway six minutes away, asking if Adam was home and why it was so completely quiet outside. Two people. Two driveways. The same silence. The same presence. The same moment.
Lisa is an Aboriginal woman of the Gomeroi Nation based in Queensland, Australia, and the host of the Proppa Scary Podcast, a show dedicated to First Nations paranormal stories from Australia and Indigenous communities around the world. She was four years old when she woke in the night and saw a Tall Man standing in her bedroom doorway. Very tall. Very thin. Wearing a hat. No visible face. He stared at her, and she stared back. She rolled over to face the wall and whispered please go away until she fell back to sleep. She never saw him again. But she has never stopped thinking about him, and the Tall Man in the doorway is now the artwork for her podcast. Follow Lisa at Proppa Scary Podcast on Instagram.

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_02]: When she approached that she didn't seem to know who she was
[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_02]: and where she was.
[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And she said, can't you help me?
[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_02]: And my grandmother and I were both psyched
[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_02]: and anyway, when she approached that she asked
[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_02]: this where where she was and where she was.
[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And I said, don't you know your Maryland Monroe,
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_02]: you died a couple years back
[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_02]: and she didn't act in white.
[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_02]: She didn't know what we were saying.
[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_02]: She was suddenly regained her composure.
[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_02]: And she said that she wanted people to know
[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_02]: that she didn't commit suicide.
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_02]: That somebody else did it for her.
[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_02]: So she walked back down the beach

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_02]: They'll, if you want my story,

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm beginning to really love your stories
[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_03]: so keep them coming.
[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I've done some research.
[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And according to this article by The Hollywood Reporter,
[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Marilyn Monroe's spirit has been spotted everywhere
[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_03]: around Los Angeles.
[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_03]: In her home where she died,
[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_03]: sitting on a bench at the hip-a-drome
[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_03]: on those Santa Monica pier
[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_03]: and basically every lady's room
[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_03]: from the LCAP attend to The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_03]: So congratulations Cindy.
[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_03]: You found Los Angeles's version of the Holy Grail
[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_03]: of ghosts.
[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Next message.
[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Hi, my name's Adam and I'm for Bicator L'Noye.
[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I've been in the paranormal field for over 20 years now
[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_00]: and I have to get asked a lot of questions
[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_00]: about my experiences.
[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_00]: One question that comes up a lot is
[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_00]: are you afraid something will attach to you?
[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Follow you home.
[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_00]: For years, I never really thought much about it
[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_00]: until one night in the summer of 2016.
[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_00]: It all started when my friend Jake and I
[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_00]: decided to visit a well-known haunted house in town.
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_00]: This place had a dark and unsettled
[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_00]: in the past.
[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_00]: With stories of murder suicide, a major fire
[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_00]: and even the fact that it was built on top
[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_00]: of a Native American burial ground.
[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_00]: We were there late when night
[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_00]: prepping some materials for a ghost hunting workshop
[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_00]: we had planned in the upcoming weeks.
[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_00]: While we were there, we decided to try something new
[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_00]: using a black mirror for sky.
[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_00]: For those unfamiliar black mirrors
[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_00]: supposed to provide us soft focus for your eyes
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_00]: helping your mind to calm down and wonder.
[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Jake and I had never really used one before,
[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_00]: so we thought, why not give it a shot?
[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I used the mirror for about 20 minutes.
[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Then Jake took his turn for another 20 minutes.
[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_00]: The house was dark and eerily quiet
[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_00]: as we set in different rooms hoping to experience something.
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_00]: But nothing happened.
[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Actually it felt kind of calming.
[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_00]: After we decided to call it night and head home,
[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Jake and I lived about six minutes from the house
[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_00]: but in opposite directions,
[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_00]: me to the north hand of the south.
[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_00]: So we should arrive back home
[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_00]: to our houses at the same time.
[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_00]: It was around 1am when I pulled into my driveway
[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_00]: as I got out of my car was hit with this overwhelming feeling.
[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_00]: The night was completely silent,
[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_00]: no wind, no car sounds, nothing.
[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_00]: It was strange, unsettling quiet.
[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I suddenly felt like someone was standing right behind me,
[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_00]: watching me as I slowly turned around.
[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I looked, there was no one there
[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_00]: and the silence was still eerie.
[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel a little bit spooked.
[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I decided to pick up the pace
[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_00]: and unlock my front door when suddenly my phone rang.
[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Now, I'm not much of a caller more of a texture
[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_00]: so getting a call at 1am was unusual.
[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it is unusual for about anyone actually.
[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_00]: It was Jake though.
[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I answer I say hey what's up?
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_00]: His first words were are you home?
[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Which I did reply yes.
[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I said why?
[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_00]: He said, when he pulled up,
[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_00]: he got out of this car
[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_00]: and as he shut his car door,
[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_00]: he thought someone was watching him.
[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Steering at him near the tree that was behind him.
[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_00]: He slowly walked up to his house
[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_00]: and I said, oh really?
[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_00]: What else?
[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_00]: He says why is it so damn quiet up?
[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_00]: That moment I realized
[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I was alone in this experience.
[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Something strange had happened.
[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_00]: So I decided to hurry up and get inside
[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_00]: and it told Jake what Colin back later in the morning.
[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_00]: As I lay there and bed later,
[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't stop thinking.
[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Was whatever it was still outside my house
[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_00]: or had it returned to the creepy old house
[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_00]: on the burial ground?
[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I guess that night,
[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I got my answer to the common question.
[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Thanks for calling in Adam.
[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_03]: The answer you got was yes.
[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_03]: In big capital letters,
[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_03]: next caller.
[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a strong man, I was Lisa.
[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm an Aboriginal woman of the Gomorrah Nation
[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_01]: and I'm based on quantum-mithic country
[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_01]: or in the Brisbane area of Queensland and Australia.
[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I love the podcast
[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and I would like to share a story with you.
[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I was four years old
[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_01]: and I remember waking up during the middle of the night
[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_01]: feeling someone standing behind me
[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_01]: in one of my bedroom
[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_01]: and I rolled over to see who it was
[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_01]: and I could see a tall man standing in the doorway
[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_01]: of my bedroom
[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_01]: and all I remember is that he was tall,
[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_01]: very skinny,
[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I was wearing a hat.
[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't see any detail of his face
[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_01]: or his clothes
[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_01]: but I stared at him and he stared back at me
[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_01]: and I remember thinking to myself
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_01]: what am I going to do
[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_01]: to get to Mum and Dad or what have to do?
[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_01]: So Nick, I ran down to him or go through him
[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_01]: so I just rolled back over
[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_01]: facing the wall, putting my back towards him
[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_01]: and whispered to myself
[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_01]: please go away, please go away
[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_01]: please go away
[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_01]: and just fall back to sleep.
[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I never saw him again as an older child
[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_01]: or an adult
[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_01]: but that incident plays on my mind all the time
[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_01]: so I'm not so,
[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I've now created my own scary story podcast
[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_01]: that will feature first nation stories
[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_01]: of paranormal and true horror
[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_01]: because I know that we've got a lot of stories
[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_01]: amongst our people here in Australia
[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_01]: and he is the torment
[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_01]: that was of my door is actually the artwork for my podcast
[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_01]: so hopefully it's a journey to learn more
[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_01]: about this torment
[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_01]: and maybe why he was there
[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_01]: and to connect with other Aboriginal or Indigenous people
[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_01]: in Australia and around the world
[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_01]: with their stories of paranormal and true horror.
[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you Lisa for calling in.
