Real Ghost Stories For Walking the Dog On A Lonely Night - Mixtape Vol. 7 (Encore)

This week's ghost stories start with Roc from Orange County, who vividly recounts a disturbing childhood incident involving a drive-by shooting and the unsettling appearance of a mysterious man lurking outside his grandparents' window at 3 AM. As Rock's narrative unfolds, we discover how these ghostly sightings escalated, leading his grandfather to perform a ritual to calm the restless spirit. This tale is just the beginning of our exploration into the realm of haunted tales and spooky stories that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Next, we welcome Jacob, who shares his ghostly encounter while working on a ghost-hunting show in a historic mansion. His experience includes a terrifying echo that reverberates through the halls and a mysterious presence lurking in a dark closet. These chilling moments serve as a reminder of the real ghost experiences that many of us brush off as mere figments of our imagination.

Dave brings a poignant twist to our collection of creepy stories as he recounts a moment when his brother heard the voice of their deceased friend, Bobby, echoing in a restaurant. This touching story showcases the profound connections we maintain with those we've lost and the spirits that may linger among us.

Finally, Artemis shares their haunting experience during a staycation in a seemingly beautiful yet eerie townhouse in New York City. What starts as a relaxing getaway quickly turns into a night filled with strange noises and unexplained occurrences, leading them to leave the hotel early. This creepy tale encapsulates the essence of the spooky season, reminding us that sometimes the most inviting places can hide the most unsettling secrets.

Willkommen, auf Depending auf der Tür. Willkommen zu Tell Me A Ghost Story. Die Late Night Call In Podcast, wo wir lösen, die wahrnuta, über die unsinnützlichen Eerie und Un zaussehen gibt.

[00:01:03] I'm your host Michelle Newman. This podcast features true stories from our callers that will send shivers down your spine and leave you questioning the existence of the afterlife so grab a cozy blanket turn down the lights hey michelle it's me rock again from orne county

[00:01:29] i have another story to share with you this happened in pomona where my grandparents used to own and when they were alive and i was awoken up at least i want to say 10 o'clock at night and i looked over the window something had told me you need to look out the window and it was a gentleman in the phone booth and somebody had just drove by and just shot him straight up i guess it

[00:01:54] was like a drive-by between games and he was caught up in the middle so my grandparents and my parents saw me go through the window and they noticed that i witnessed it because they witnessed it as well my grandma and my mom just grabbed me from the window and they basically were trying to reconciled me because i didn't know really what was going on so things didn't get enough weirder until a couple nights afterwards to where i was awoken in the middle of the night and

[00:02:24] i saw a gentleman by the window and i freaked out because i was sleeping at the time with my grandparents in between them and i woke up in the middle of the night and i told my grandma and i said grandma grandma wake up and my grandma goes what happened and i said there's a man standing out the window and my grandma was like what are you talking about and she looks over at the alarm clock the alarm clock was three o'clock in the morning and i told my grandma i was like i think it's a man from the phone booth and my grandma started getting goosebumps and she's like you don't

[00:02:52] know what you're talking about and it's my grandma and i said no grandma like look she looks out and mind you this is my grandma didn't believe in having friends back then in the 90s my grandma looks out the window and she says a gentleman just poking his hand in the window like as if he's trying to peer to see who's in there so my grandma freaks out she wakes up my grandpa and tells my grandpa hey get up right now there's a man outside the window so as my grandpa wakes up he's

[00:03:19] freaking out because it's like deep slumber he's snoring and he sprints up and says what what what are you talking what are you guys talking about what man so my grandma and i look at the window and the man is out there in the morning he just disappeared so we were like what the heck so it kept recurring every night at the same time at three in the morning my grandma decided to have my mom make curtains for her because she said she was really uncomfortable with the gentleman

[00:03:49] poking his head in the window so there was one time where we were playing with all the neighborhood kids and they were renting the rooms of the motel and we used to go by the phone booth and one of the kids was like oh you see ghosts maybe we can go ahead and you know go around the phone booth so we would go mess around near the phone booth the phone started to ring and the kids were like what the heck and mind you this was around five o'clock in the afternoon so the kids were looking at

[00:04:16] me and they're like did you like who is that so i told one of the girls i was like well if you don't believe me go pick up the phone so she went and picked up the phone and she started running and i said what happened so the other kid picked up the phone that was that she dropped and then he started running crying so i was left alone and i'm like what is going on so i picked up the phone

[00:04:40] and the phone was staticky and then it sounded like somebody said help me and then the call dropped and so i ran in the house and i told my parents so my parents were like you're not allowed to go to that phone booth and of course being the ignorant kid that i was and curious as i was i would go to to the phone and notice that the phone um would ring at the start at the same time when i was like at five o'clock and then at nighttime you would hear it exactly at 10 o'clock ringing over and over again

[00:05:10] so i honestly don't know what happened to the man i don't know if he still lingered there but the phone booth is no longer there but after the phone booth incident i kept hearing somebody walking with their boots like outside my window and it would walk around from my grandma's room to her bathroom and then to the office of the motel and so my my grandpa had to perform like a ritual

[00:05:35] to kind of calm and eat the spirit down so this is one of my scary stories that i have to share i also have many more thanks for your story rock i'm glad your grandma got curtains hey michelle this is jacob i got one for you so i worked on a show up in denver colorado i believe

[00:05:57] and it was a uh an old historic mansion and um to uh for the show we have a host that come in and do a meet and greet with uh with the owners and see what kind of activities they have in the area and then we would go once they're done we would come in the crew come in and they set up all the cameras

[00:06:21] in the designated spots that they're going to be um focusing on and so they'll do the night investigation see if they capture anything and then present their review once they're done we come in and we take everything apart and so they did the investigation we had to come in take everything out and there's like a couple levels to this location and while my team was on the first floor

[00:06:48] taking everything apart i decided to go up to the third floor by myself and see if i can get ahead of things and once i got up there there was a big room in front of me uh another room to the right of me and like a small little office to the left of me so i decided to go in the right uh to the room to the right and as i go in to take away the camera that we had set up behind me there is a door

[00:07:13] that i believe led to either a closet or a shaft or something but it was crept open and it was dark and i couldn't see inside but i noticed it while i take away the camera we had set up a cable put some paper tape on to keep it in place and so i decided to pull on the cable um to detach it and so when you

[00:07:33] do that it makes a noise it goes right and so what i did then a delayed echo occurred right behind me that really made me jump and just ended up staring at it so i pulled it up it goes and about a second later behind me treat me out i stayed there for a second wait to see if it was my team coming up the stairs and nothing then i pull up on the cable again just staring at the door and it goes

[00:08:05] and comes right out of that closet door freaked me out and i was like nope nope nope nope put the heel back down and walked out that room as i'm kind of like running down the stairs my team was coming up and i completely played it off and told me hey guys i was uh just uh striking everything upstairs turned around and went at the opposite room and just took everything out of all the years that i've done

[00:08:27] ghost hunting shows by far that one was the one that impacted me the most thank you jacob for your story who knew a ghost mimicking the sound of pulling tape would give me the chills next message hey michelle it's dave twofold again growing up my brothers were 10 and 11 years older than me and they

[00:08:53] had a really close friend named bobby and bobby passed away in what would have been college age in that car accident and well my brother swore my brother who doesn't believe in the paranormal here bobby calling his name the next time he went to work and was alone um we grew up in a restaurant we all worked for my father so a couple years later i'm washing dishes

[00:09:18] i'm going up to the storage attic and organizing and bringing down canned goods or pizza boxes or whatever and every so often i'd be up there working same place i worked yesterday no problem and i would just know someone was there watching me and i couldn't see anyone and it didn't make any sense but i go downstairs and clean something else can't explain it so you know years go by and it's like not every day it's like every fourth or fifth time up there or only in parts of the attic

[00:09:46] and it was always a feeling you know chicken skin or the hair in the back of the neck kind of thing anyway fast forward he closes he reopens long stories i can't explain it 10 15 years go by and we had a paranormal night at the restaurant actually which was a complete epic failure when we reopened and couldn't get any business but a friend of mine from work brought in this woman i had never met who claimed to be a psychic okay i need to test this because not everyone who claims to be something

[00:10:15] is something i've met people who claim to be a doctor that never finished high school so whatever and she said yeah you're in a haunted restaurant i was like okay bobby's okay he said he says he's watching you guys he's doing good she didn't say robert she pulled the name bobby of all names out of the air and he was doing fine if that doesn't give you the chills thanks for calling in again david

[00:10:41] keep those stories flowing next message hey this is artemis from los angeles california and this is my ghost story so when i was in my mid-20s i was living in new york city and me and my ex-girlfriend

[00:11:02] were working in the hectically fabulous world of fashion or adjacent to fashion and we were living together in brooklyn and we'd had a really particularly busy month and a half both of us and we really wanted to do a vacation but we couldn't really leave the city so we said hey

[00:11:24] let's do a staycation and my ex kind of took it upon herself to figure out where we were going and where we would be staying and there's a hotel in new york called the bowery hotel which is a really lovely hotel that looks really old but is actually new uh they did a great job making it seem old but they have a sister property that um is sort of like a townhouse that's affiliated with the

[00:11:52] bowery hotel that you can rent but it's it's kind of like you have to know to know to rent it one of these things and it's the same principle as the hotel except there's no staff on site you go and check in at the at the bowery hotel and then you go to this townhouse and it's like really beautiful and you know it's kind of like a it's a thing so she picks that place i'd never really heard of it i

[00:12:17] didn't do any research on it you know it's just kind of like let's have an adventure so we decided to like meet after work in the city get some drinks go check in have a night in the hotel really really nice you know ordering food do the whole nine so we go for drinks we go to the hotel afterwards to pick up our keys and the bellman who gives us our keys kind of goes oh that's a good room

[00:12:48] with this kind of like weird mischievous vibe and we were like all right weird man that's fine we thought it was like he was just being cheeky so we go to the hotel and it's really beautiful it's an old victorian building and you check in by yourself and you go in and we were the only people in there at that night so there's only like four rooms one on each floor of this thing and we were in the top room on the top floor and it is set up like you're in someone's house like you enter and it's just a

[00:13:17] staircase and a weird little foyer and really beautiful and art and yada yada but we go upstairs we went in we joked this looks like a haunted house like it looks like a this would be your classic haunted house but you know we were in our mid-20s and it was new york city and like what is haunting in new york city you step you know there's busy there's people outside it's everywhere so we we go in we get into the room we immediately crack a bottle of wine we're enjoying we're exploring the

[00:13:44] room and it's one of those rooms where it's like they've redone everything but everything is still really old so it's beautiful but it's like old like the faucets are old those classic ones you got to crank on for like the the sink and the shower and the bath and the windows are like beautiful but you really got to like yank them up and then like they lock in and then you got to yank them down and you know the the lights are very like old and the way that they kind of turn on is they like

[00:14:15] that's the only thing i can tell them like the light kind of turns on you know in a so we're there and we're kind of investigating we're like this is really beautiful and this is really cool and we start drinking the wine and it there's this like kind of like unsettling feeling in the room i don't like really know what it was but it just kind of had this like lingering thing and we

[00:14:43] were kind of putting it down to like we were just like exhausted from the month we'd had and we were just kind of like zoning out or whatever but it kind of felt like a little trippy in there like nothing really was like settled like it all kind of felt like i don't know how to say it like it was like shimmery almost but like not everything just kind of had this weird vibe so we're drinking wine and uh we're sitting on the edge of the bed talking and just like oh this is gonna be so nice

[00:15:13] and my ex goes yeah i'm definitely gonna like draw a bath in a little bit because like we don't have a bathtub in our place and like i'm gonna have a serious bath and i was like hell yeah that sounds great and then she kind of like we go on to another topic and we're talking about work and i'm like telling her about about my day and out of nowhere the bath turns on this is about five minutes later

[00:15:38] so we've already changed into a different topic and i mentioned before like this isn't like a bath like a modern thing where like oh you bump it and these are like old things you gotta crank on and it just like turns on and we both were like from the other room we just sat there like stopped talking and just kind of like looked at each other like that's that's a little weird but we were like you know

[00:16:06] like whatever like maybe there was a kink in the pipe like new york places are old whatever the radiators that creak so we go in and like sure enough the water is gushing out of the tub and we're like oh cool so we turn it off and then we go back into the room and we're kind of like that's weird so we're sitting or whatever we order our food delivery you know what i mean and we're like

[00:16:33] drinking more wine and we lose track of time and we're hanging out and then i hear like a noise in the hallway like outside of the door and i was like oh that must be our food so i go out into the hallway there's no food and i'm like oh and i'm i kind of like look over the railing down into like the next

[00:16:54] floors and i you know when you like you just miss seeing someone but like i didn't really see them but i know someone was right there i get that feeling like around the corner of the staircase and i was like okay so i kind of yell out i was like hey didn't mean to disturb you if you're staying here we thought we were the only ones no response but i'm like i think there's probably someone else

[00:17:22] checked in you know it's last minute check-in so i go back inside and i'm kind of like okay that was weird but no food yet and she like checks the app she's like oh yeah it hasn't arrived yet so we're kind of like okay go back to drinking our wine and you know we're like okay it's starting to feel a little like like a little warm in the room a little bit like and it's old school you know it's like

[00:17:47] the radiators and whatever so it's like we should probably like you know open the window so we're like great so we like open the window to get a little air in and again these are windows you got to crank up so we pull the window up and we kind of like it locks in place and we go back to talking and then the food comes and i go downstairs to get the food and i you know meet the guy

[00:18:13] and then i'm coming back up the stairs with the food and i swear like my ex was on the landing up above so like i registered someone and but i had my head down and walk up the stairs so i started talking to her and i like hey like okay i'm so excited to eat this like i thought she was leaning

[00:18:34] out looking and waiting for me and i get to the top of the stairs and she's not there and i'm like oh and i go to the room and i open it like so she's not even like at the front of the stair and i was like hey did you just like come out and you know were you and she was like no i've been in the bathroom

[00:18:57] now i'm kind of a little more on edge than her and i'm like okay that was a little weird i'm getting these weird vibes in the hallway and she's like don't freak me out and i was like no like every time i've gone to the hallway and she's like it's someone's probably just like staying there you know i mean like someone probably checked in like you're just catching the residuals of someone opening their door or closing their door it's like there's other it's a hotel you know

[00:19:21] and i'm like yeah no this feels like way more intense than that so there's a little table that's like off to the side where you can like a dining room table so we like go and we're sitting there and we're like sinking back into oh this is really nice and we're gonna you know let's just let's listen to records and like hang out tonight maybe smoke some joints and so we're like sitting there and we lay out all the food and we're sitting we're all just like getting really comfortable

[00:19:49] and she goes fuck you know it's like it's now it's getting a little cold in here like you know i mean the window's been open let me go and shut the window but we've just sat down and before she can like get up and shut the window and it's like to her side it just clanks shut and we both were like well that's very strange and now she's on my level of like okay this is really really weird we eat our dinner

[00:20:19] we're like okay let's go you know back outside like smoke a joint outside go for a little walk remind ourselves that we are in fact in manhattan there's millions of people here it's not scary so we go outside we go to the front we smoke a joint we walk around the block walk off our dinner and we're like back to kind of being chill because you see hundreds of people in the streets and it's very chill and there's cars and you're like oh it's we're not haunted we're in new york city

[00:20:47] we get back to the house the you know hotel house thing and we go inside and she's ahead of me and she opens the door and i hear her go oh hey like you know up the stairs and i was like oh good she's like met the person that has been you know i've been freaked out by so i'm shutting the door and then i go

[00:21:12] to come up and she's just like frozen there and i was like what happened and she was like i just swear someone had been there and i just missed them so i yelled after them but then i turned my head and there was no one in the hallway and i was like cool great so now we're right it's like it's like going in the place and like the sound dampens and then now we're back in the haunted house again and

[00:21:40] it was just like cool we go back upstairs we're like trying to enjoy ourselves she's like i'm gonna go have that bath i'm gonna you know i'm like great i'll like sit in the bathroom and read while you're in the bath it'll be very cute so she goes and draws the bath and we're in the bathroom both of us she's in the bath i'm sitting like next to the bath reading we got candles it's very cute

[00:22:04] and uh i hear in the hallway someone like running down the hallway behind the bathroom just a very distinct noise of feet and i was like and we both hear it and we just keep talking and then i hear it come back down the hallway from the opposite direction and i go outside again and i'm like

[00:22:33] there's no one in the hallways and i'm like now i'm holding on to like sanity i'm like no no like someone has checked in you're not you haven't seen this person they're just going about their night get a hold of yourself but now i'm a little wrecked we're both wrecked she gets out of the tub we go to get into bed and we're in bed and all the lights are on and it's one of those things where you have

[00:23:02] to go and click all the lights off it's not a master switch you got to go around and click the different lights off and we're like okay let's go click the lights off and i stand up and go to the one side of the room to click the lights off and as i'm turning that side like the entryway lights off i literally hit those ones and then the lights on the other side of the room go off

[00:23:27] and me and her are like nope and we ended up leaving the hotel room and going home we didn't even spend the night in the hotel and the next morning we kind of woke up laughing like i can't believe we just spent this money on this and then didn't stay like what was wrong with us like we

[00:23:49] were so so i call the hotel and i was like hey we left early totally our fault nothing was really wrong with the room we were just kind of feeling a little off so sorry about that but like here's me checking out from my apartment in brooklyn you know like weird sorry and he was like oh no that's totally fine um totally that's you know we'll love to have you guys back sometime and i was like yeah

[00:24:17] and like apologize to whoever else was staying there because i you know i think i like yelled out for them a few times and i don't want to disturb them like i just was like was checking in to see if someone had come in and there's this like long pause and the guy goes there was no one staying in that you

[00:24:37] guys were the only ones there last night thank you artemis for calling in here's a short epilogue to that story it turns out that it had been an orphanage a million years ago okay so that's terrifying like

[00:24:59] it was like a nunnery orphanage thing and then in our room when it became a hotel the first it was like before it was like officially a hotel it was like a you can rent floors of this short stay and these two really famous artists overdosed in our room in what and it had been set up differently but they

[00:25:22] had a crazy night in like 1999 or 2003 or something and died one in the bathtub not even kidding and one in the in the the living room area that's all we have this week folks do you have a ghost story call
