True Ghost Stories: A Murdered Child's Spirit Appears at Alana's Bedside in La Ronge Saskatchewan

This is one of the original Tell Me A Ghost Story calls from the early days of the show. Short, raw, and exactly where it all started. This call was later incorporated into a longer compilation episode with full host commentary if you want the complete experience.

Hey, it's Michelle, and this early episode belongs entirely to Alana from Edmonton, Alberta, who called in with a true ghost story that moved me in a way I was not entirely prepared for. It is frightening in places. It is heartbreaking in others. And it is one of the most emotionally complete real paranormal encounters in the entire early archive.

Alana was sixteen years old when she visited her biological mother's home in La Ronge, Saskatchewan, a trip that was already emotionally complicated before anything supernatural happened. Strange things began almost immediately. A ball rolling across the room on its own. The persistent and specific sensation of being watched from somewhere she could not identify. The gradual accumulation of small, inexplicable moments that on their own could be explained away, and together could not.

Then a little boy appeared at her bedside. He was clear enough that Alana could see him properly. He asked her why she cried at night. The question itself is as haunting as the appearance because it meant he had been watching her while she slept, aware of her grief in a way that went beyond simple presence. Alana later learned that a child had been murdered in that house. The boy at her bedside was his spirit, and he had been there long before Alana arrived and would be there long after she left.

But Alana's story does not end with the murdered child. She also shares a visit from her deceased grandmother during that same stay, a presence that arrived with a completely different energy from the boy at the bedside. Where the child's spirit carried the weight of a violent and unresolved death, the grandmother's visit felt like something else entirely, the specific warmth of someone who came because they wanted to rather than because they were bound to. Alana's sensitivity to the supernatural is evident throughout her call, and the range of what she experienced in that one house in La Ronge in a single visit is extraordinary.

One caller. One true ghost story about grief, a murdered child's spirit, and a grandmother who came to say something that needed to be said. This is where Tell Me A Ghost Story began.

[00:00:00] Welcome to Tell Me A Ghost Story.

[00:00:15] The late night call in podcast where we delve into the world of the supernatural and explore

[00:00:20] the eerie and unexplained.

[00:00:23] I'm your host, Michelle Newman.

[00:00:27] This podcast features true stories from our callers that will send shivers down your

[00:00:32] spine and leave you questioning the existence of the afterlife.

[00:00:39] So grab a cozy blanket, turn down the lights.

[00:00:46] Hello my name is Elamin.

[00:00:48] I am from Edmonton Alberta Canada.

[00:00:52] So I have this story from now 16.

[00:00:54] I am now 36.

[00:00:56] I went to go visit my biological mom who was living in Lerange, Saskatchewan.

[00:01:02] So my type 2 great-hand took me about two days to get there from Edmonton Alberta to Lerange.

[00:01:08] I get there and I get there it's a nice little white house just in the main floor and basement.

[00:01:17] Alright looking back yard has like a chain like fence and on the other side of it is

[00:01:22] like a little forest tree and it's pretty big like big when you're small.

[00:01:29] And it was just like you know a space between houses and stuff.

[00:01:34] So I ended up liking it there and I was like alright, I was like it's nice little house.

[00:01:42] Anyways so one day I was sitting downstairs middle of summer it was super hot.

[00:01:50] One thing I think of it this ball comes really now very slowly.

[00:01:57] So I'm like okay alright and then thing I think of it because you know like no one was

[00:02:06] like I wasn't really creeped out about stuff you know.

[00:02:12] I don't know a couple days go by.

[00:02:14] I was sitting on the couch I remember down there and I'm watching something on the TV.

[00:02:23] On the like the left side of my peripherals I see someone kind of slouching down and trying

[00:02:29] to sneak by me ever so slightly.

[00:02:31] So I'm thinking boom this is my brothers because I had it was my sister my mom and my two

[00:02:39] little brothers that lived there and they're stepped out.

[00:02:41] It was not my step dad but they're stepped out.

[00:02:43] Thank you so I'm like waiting for them to like pop out and scare me.

[00:02:49] I just kind of figured it was my little brothers because you know we always pop out

[00:02:52] and scare each other in time they could.

[00:02:54] So I'm like sitting there and no one comes and I'm like bracing like any second they're

[00:03:00] going to go wow but nothing happened.

[00:03:03] So I get up and I just go look great and I'm like looking around and no one's down

[00:03:09] here.

[00:03:11] So I call up to my sister and I'm like alley and she's like yeah I'm like Calvin and Matthew

[00:03:19] here and she's like no they're outside.

[00:03:25] Oh my god I got the chills.

[00:03:30] I was so scared like you know when you have that fighter flight I just couldn't even move

[00:03:36] it all like I was so scared.

[00:03:37] I took everything and you just took up stairs because they're just creeping out so bad.

[00:03:42] Anyway so I go upstairs and one night I am just like I go to bed and I'll sit in I wake

[00:03:52] up and there's this little boy leaning over me and he's like hey why do you cry so

[00:03:59] me.

[00:04:01] And reason why I was crying is because I was lonely but no one ever seen me so but this

[00:04:08] little boy like little dark brown hair brown eyes he was just staring at me and I started

[00:04:16] getting I started crying like in I was so scared but I could not move but I was like I could

[00:04:23] hear my sister beside me like she was sleeping I could hear her snoring.

[00:04:28] I've been to close my eyes and I was like go away you're not real you're not real go

[00:04:32] away and I could move again and my sister like she nudged me and I was just crying

[00:04:39] and it took me while to console me because I was actually really scared.

[00:04:44] Anyways the next day my mom and my sister sit me down and she was telling me that years

[00:04:53] and years ago in the same house there used to be a family that lived there that had

[00:04:57] a little boy and they're really bad neighbor kids that two of them they took him and they

[00:05:04] took him through the back of the little forest house telling you guys about trees and they

[00:05:08] tortured and they killed him.

[00:05:10] And if you search it in La Ronde to sketch what aunts did not crescent an exact same

[00:05:15] house that's where he stayed and you'll you can read about in the paper I was really sad

[00:05:21] they did really bad things to him and yeah he was not grown sick you're seven he was exactly

[00:05:27] the boy that I seen.

[00:05:30] Yeah I've just always had weird stuff happening to me like that I guess when people say

[00:05:37] you're gifted you know and you can see things like that but for while I was always scared

[00:05:43] to sleep because once that happened it's like it opened up something to another time

[00:05:51] is when I was around 17 or 17 or 18 and I'm laying in my bed in my house I go back I'm

[00:06:00] living in Edmonton again and just laying there and my cook room which is grandma and

[00:06:07] Cree because I'm Native American or indigenous she had passed away probably when I was around

[00:06:14] 12 11 13 I can't remember teenager of it anyways I'm laying in the room one day and I

[00:06:23] wasn't feeling good so I'm just laying there on my side I could see my mom on the phone

[00:06:29] laying on my side looking out of my bedroom this year on the phone I should talk you all

[00:06:35] a sudden it happens again I realize oh shoot I can't move again the room goes just the room

[00:06:44] just goes like later and brighter now I'll send I put shift my eyes downward to end

[00:06:51] in my bed and I had a rocking chair in my room and into rocking chair in my room was my

[00:06:56] cook I'm sitting there and her flowery dresses she used to wear in two braids parted on

[00:07:02] each side I look at her you know in my mind I know she is gone she's not here and I got

[00:07:11] scared of her I've kind of feel bad because maybe that's not what she is like you know

[00:07:17] hope he's made me do but I'm like trying to make myself stop to be able to move although

[00:07:25] I can still hear my mom and I can still hear everything and all of a sudden as she's

[00:07:34] come she gets up and she starts walking towards me and I feel like warmth on my shoulder

[00:07:40] where she touches me with her hand and I close my eyes and I'm just praying to wake up

[00:07:46] like to be able to move again it wasn't a dream I was fully like awake when it happened

[00:07:51] like I wasn't half asleep and all of a sudden like I just as soon as I could move again

[00:07:59] the room just went like you know back to me and like this how normally was it wasn't

[00:08:04] like a bright and goldy it was just normal and I went home my mom and I was crying I was

[00:08:09] like mom was like cookin was just here she sat in that chair right there she was looking

[00:08:14] at me oh my god I got the children now anyways so she's not here she came up what she

[00:08:19] said something and create oh yeah that's right she's said something create I don't know

[00:08:23] I don't speak creed so but that's how she spoke she spoke very little English so I'm like super

[00:08:29] scared telling my mom this and she starts crying and I'm just like you know I gave us a scary thing
