This is one of the original Tell Me A Ghost Story calls from the early days of the show. Short, raw, and exactly where it all started. Both of these calls were later incorporated into longer compilation episodes with full host commentary if you want the complete experience.
Hey, it's Michelle, and this early episode has two true ghost stories connected by one word. Attached. Something attached itself to two coffins used in a funeral home in Georgia and followed them into a Halloween spook house in Tennessee. And something attached itself to Rachel when she was four years old and has never let go in thirty years.
Phil from Chattanooga, Tennessee, calls in from his work managing foreclosed and abandoned properties in Rome, Georgia. The property had been a funeral home, sitting vacant for over five years. Phil went in for a routine inspection and found the basement fully intact. Embalming equipment. Preparation tables. And two coffins in a room off to the side. The mortgage company told him to take them to the landfill. Instead, a worker suggested his uncle's Halloween spook house in Chattanooga might want them. The uncle came and picked them up.
When the spook house opened months later, Phil got a call. The uncle wanted to know where those coffins had come from. His actors refused to get inside them. Things were moving around the space. Doors slamming. Objects falling. One or two actors said flatly it had to be the coffins. Phil later learned from a former funeral home employee that those two coffins had been used over and over for decades for every person scheduled to be cremated. A memorial service. The lid closed. An elevator down to the basement. The body removed and sent off. The coffin returned for the next one. Whatever accumulated in those coffins across hundreds of uses had no intention of becoming a Halloween prop.
Rachel from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, calls in with a paranormal attachment that began when she was four years old in South Point, Ohio, and has followed her through every home she has lived in since. Her brother reported their deceased great-grandmother appearing at his window after her death, but Rachel has always wondered whether it was actually her great-grandmother or something demonic using her face to get inside. Whatever it was, it stayed.
Thirty years later, Rachel still experiences paranormal activity, and the presence she senses is always the same figure, appearing in her mind whenever something happens, as if it wants to be recognized. Her first sleep paralysis episode at thirty-two ended with three long scratches on her makeup vanity that were not there before. When she described the experience to her mother, her mother's face went blank. The wall behind Rachel was turning black and appeared to be opening like a portal as she spoke. Rachel stopped talking immediately and has never spoken about that incident again.
Her most recent sleep paralysis episode happened three weeks before she called in. Something demonic whispered directly into her ear. She will not repeat what it said. She is afraid that saying it out loud will make things worse.
Two real callers. Two true ghost stories about what happens when something decides to attach itself and never let go.

[00:00:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Something very demonic was whispering into my ear.
[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to Tell Me A Ghost Story, the late night call in podcast where we delve into
[00:00:26] [SPEAKER_01]: the world of the supernatural and explore the eerie and unexplained.
[00:00:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm your host, Michelle Newman. This podcast features true stories from our callers that
[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_01]: will send shivers down your spine and leave you questioning the existence of the afterlife.
[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_01]: So grab a cozy blanket, turn down the lights.
[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_00]: My name is Phil. I'm from Chattanooga, Tennessee.
[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_00]: And what I'm about to tell you happened in Rome, Georgia. I'm a contractor and I take care of and
[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_00]: manage foreclosed vacant and abandoned properties. In this particular property in Rome, I was sent
[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: a work order to go there and do a regular first time visit. And when I got there,
[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I found out from the neighbors that the house had been a funeral home and it hadn't been
[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_00]: used in over five years. So it was a two story red brick, very, very ominous, just creepy look.
[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Once you find out it's a funeral home, it just makes it more creepier.
[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Well anyway, we go in and we do all of our supposed to do. Then I
[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_00]: find a set of stairs that will take me down to the basement. And down in the basement is
[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_00]: where everything is done. Where the bodies are embalmed, prepped, and everything else.
[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_00]: The equipment was still there. And there was a room off to itself and inside that room,
[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_00]: there was some stuff that you would typically find in a funeral home. That's chairs,
[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_00]: cans, but there was also two coffins. So I called the mortgage company and said,
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_00]: hey, I have two coffins in this place. What do you want me to do with them?
[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_00]: And they said, take them to the landfill. We don't want them. Okay, cool.
[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_00]: So I got them out and I was about to have the guy store it on a trailer when one of
[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_00]: said, hey, my uncle has a big spook house in Chattanooga and he would love to have
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_00]: these two coffins. I said, we'll call him. I need them out of here today.
[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_00]: He called him. His uncle came, picked them up and took them back to Chattanooga.
[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And the spook house opened a month later and I get a call from him and he says,
[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_00]: where did you get these? I mean, were these coffins in there for the whole time?
[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I said, I don't know. They were in there when we went there.
[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_00]: He said, I'm having some issues with these things. I cannot get any of my actors to
[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_00]: go into these coffins. I said, well, you know, they are coffins. It's really not
[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_00]: normal for a living person to want to go in a coffin. Kind of claustrophobic and it's just
[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of weird on top of that. And so we, I went to the property again, another trip,
[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and there was a gentleman that came walking up and he was, he was about five, 10, six feet
[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_00]: slender build and he had a fedora on. And he was asking my name and everything. So I told him,
[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_00]: introduced myself and he began to tell me that he had worked at that funeral home
[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_00]: about 10 years earlier and he was probably in his seventies.
[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And I began to talk to him about the place. I said, what about those two caskets
[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_00]: in the, in this basement? What's that all about? And he said that those two caskets were used
[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_00]: if people were going to be cremated, they would put the bodies in those caskets. They would have a
[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_00]: normal memorial for people who were going to be cremated and what they would do that place
[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_00]: the body in there, take it to the room. It was going to be in and after the service, they
[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_00]: close the lid and they would put the coffin in an elevator, lower it to the basement,
[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_00]: remove the body and put it into a cardboard box to be sent off to be cremated.
[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_00]: And these two caskets were used over and over and over and over again.
[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_00]: And the guy from the spook house who came to pick them up to use them in a spook house,
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_00]: he had complaints that his actors would not get in them and that there was crazy things
[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_00]: moving around, doors slamming stuff falling in that space that one or two of his actors said
[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_00]: it's got to be that coffin. So I relayed that information to him and all of a sudden it made
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_00]: him excited because now he had two coffins that somehow another had something attached to it
[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_00]: and they were in his spook house. And that's my story.
[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for your story, Phil from Chattanooga.
[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_01]: You really put that haunted in Haunted House. Next message.
[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_02]: So my name is Rachel and I currently live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_02]: When I first started to experience paranormal things, I was about four years old and my
[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_02]: family lived in South Point, Ohio. My brother said that our great grandma actually appeared
[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_02]: at his window one night and this was after she had passed away. And I've always wondered if
[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_02]: it was actually our great grandma or since the activity in this home
[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_02]: appeared to be more demonic, was it a demon portraying themselves as our great grandma?
[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I definitely feel like something has attached itself to me and has never left me because 30
[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_02]: years later I still have paranormal experiences happen to me and I can almost get like a vision
[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_02]: of who it is and it's always the same person. When I think about it, they appear in my mind
[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_02]: or if something happens, this person appears in my mind.
[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_02]: I have had a lot of experiences with sleep paralysis. My first episode of sleep paralysis,
[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_02]: I remember being so freaked out that after it happened, I text my mom and by this time I'm
[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_02]: probably about 32. That was when the first time I had my first episode of sleep paralysis
[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_02]: and when I realized what happened to me, I have a makeup vanity that sits right next to my bed
[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_02]: and once I could finally move my body, I turned over and on my makeup vanity there were these
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_02]: three long scratches that were never there. So I text my mom, told her what happened,
[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_02]: she came over and when I was describing what happened, it's like her face went blank
[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_02]: and I stopped talking and I asked her what was wrong, what was going on and she said that the
[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_02]: wall behind me was turning black and it was almost like a portal was opening up as I was
[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_02]: talking about my experience. So I quickly ended the conversation and I never spoke about it
[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_02]: again. Throughout the years, I've had a few more episodes of sleep paralysis,
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_02]: the last one happening about three weeks ago. This was probably the shortest episode but maybe
[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_02]: the scariest. I actually woke up and what sounded like something very demonic
[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_02]: was whispering into my ear and I don't want to repeat back what it said to me.
[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm afraid if I do, maybe I will intrigue it even more. Thank you Rachel for your story.
[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_01]: That's all we have this week folks. Do you have a ghost story? Call 701-484-2666.
